I haven't been in here is a while. Is "forgetting" I am 50 a bad thing, a sign of things to come?....or am I just a dumba$$:D.?

Cheers,

Brian J.

How can you forget that you're 50+? Just think of all the "senior discounts" you get. ;)
Been hanging out in the Road forum?

I was going to post a really funny quip in response to your question, but I forgot what it was.

Maybe its early days, erm years, yet, but I never remember I'm over 50. Seems too many years to me.

If forgetting means not being aware of it only a daily basis, then I often forget my age. Which, BTW, I find especially interesting, because I post in the 50+ forum on a pretty regular basis. I guess, I just see the title 50+ and my brain doesn't think "age". Rather, it thinks "most reasonable, even tempered thread on bikeforums."

If someone asks how old I am then I just tell them the year I was born and let them do the math.
Wait, what was the question?
I have to go to the bathroom,
g'nite.

Twice I've thought my age was a year different from what it actually was. Both times I was brought back to reality when I had to fill out a form with my date of birth and my age. Both times the person looking at the form took about 3 seconds to cross out my age and fill in the correct one. Both times it took me about a minute to carefully do the math and realize they were right. (sigh)

So why do you think they ask for both your date of birth AND your age? I hate filling out forms just for the sake of filling out the form.

At my doctor's office one of the questions on a form that I had to fill out asked what name I'd prefer the staff to call me. I responded Mr. _____. When my turn came, they called me by my first name. Why ask if you're not going to use the information?

When I was 50, I never forgot it. That's when I joined AARP and started throwing my card out at the restaurants for the senior discounts. At 65, it's no longer fun anymore and many places now ask if I want the senior portion instead.

How old am I? Young enough to remember but old enough to not much care.

Rode my bike to the post office the other day and held the door for a lady walking in with a box in her hands... got a "Thank you, young man". Probably my helmet-frazzed hair looked thicker than it really is... but I'll take the compliment.

I believe AARP is related to being older. How are you even remotely relevant to this thread? Gee, John V mentioned joining AARP why didn't you scream at him too? Oh, that's right, you're a supporter of AARP. Now I understand.

You think?
John's post was more than a singular statement. He was describing a series of life events. Yours came across as a simple political statement. I blieve you have the right to that opinion, but most definetely wonder how it's relevant to the overall tone of the thread. And, BTW, screaming? Really?

[QUOTE=rekmeyata;13813980] And, BTW, screaming? Really?

Yes, you were screaming, I heard you all the way over here, and I was standing outside here in Fort Wayne Indiana!! Even my neighbor asked what that screaming was.

I heard screaming in Indy. But that was just NY Giants fans at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Wait until you get to be my age, 71. I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning, but I remember things that happened yesterday like they were fifty years ago! Wait, that doesn't look right. Uh, what was the question?
