This was my first post on BikeForums:

I currently own two bicycles, both of them Nishikis:

I have a 1984 Olympic 12:

And just this weekend I acquired a brand new* XRS Sport:
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e341/Doohickie/Bicycle08/Picture265.jpg

How can I have a brand new Nishiki if they stopped making them in 2001? Well.... a friend of a friend had a bicycle for sale. It had belonged to her daughter-in-law's father who had recently passed away. He apparently bought it and never rode it. In the picture you can still see the price tags on the handlebars, and it still has the nubbies on the tires. It's like it came out of a time capsule!

Is that awesome or what?

What was yours?

I can't remember my first post. However, knowing me, it was probably a thoughtful and deeply profound statement.

I have feelings and stuff.

Warned you all back then

I've been restoring/frankensteining a raleigh 72 sport with a raleigh 67? Superbe for the past month or so and found myself using a lot of information off this forum, well yesterday the job was finished and I decided to join the forum. Oh this is my first bike wrenching experience and I am definitely a novice rider... so expect a lot of silly and newbish questions regularly. 206140

My old account was mysteriously nuked. It's unsearchable.

You should stop making assumptions. Apologize to me now.

I have stuff but no feelings, so expect no apology. It wouldn't be sincere anyway.

I respect that. You are now my new best friend.

I think I love you.

It's still there. You just have to bribe the server hamster with baby carrots before it will cough up the results.

Nah. I'm just Couch now. There is no Incident worth having to dish out baby carrots. Baby carrots are rabbit food and well, I'm afraid of rabbits.

That's just not fair, the search ends at 50 pages for my posts and that only goes to late 2010.

Isn't one of the advanced search options to put them ascending/descending order by date?

I suggest screaming at the computer. Have you tried that yet? The only problem is, if you have an Inge, she may just bite you.

Inge bites me alot.

Took some digging, even with DH's Advance Search tip-
I'm new here and could use some help. Without revealing prices, I need to make up my mind between two bikes: '07 Marin Larkspur and '06 Kona Smoke. I kinda have them both in layaway at different LBS's. I've been off a bike for 10 yrs now. Looking to do multimodal thing (car, bus, bike, car). I would only be doing about 9 miles daily, mostly on a rail-trail. Think I'm leaning towards the Kona, even though the cromo frame would take more tlc over the long haul. The Marin would be faster (based upon the gearing), but I think the Kona would make an excellent beater, if and when I get another bike (probably the Giant FCR3). Any body with real world experience with either one?
The Marin comes with free lifetime maintainenceand optional $20 'Flat Protection Plan'-get a flat, they fix/replace/install for free.
The Kona dealer would give me a yr, but would also get me in quicker for service, because he knows it will be my main mode of transport.

I had just remembered that, I miss a lot of those bikes. Close to 10 years later, I'm effectively down to 2 bike(soon to be 3, so 2.5.)

My first post was in a trade thread. How appropriate. :)

Have:

Mountain Bike Stuff

-GT LTS-4000 Full suspension frameset w/ Rock Shox Judy fork and Rock Shox rear gas shock. The frame needs a trunnion ($70-$90 online).

http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=115619&stc=1&d=1251142982

-Shimano STX shifters 7 speed/triple *clean*

-Giant cromoly hardtail frame 17" painted white, kind of ugly.

-Schwinn Varsity frameset:

http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=115621&stc=1&d=1251144652

-Old Schwinn cruiser:

http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=115622&stc=1&d=1251144652

-Schwinn Suburban frame

Road Parts

-Shimano RSX triple crankset

-Shimano RSX front derailleur

-Shimano RSX rear derailleur

-Campagnolo front derailleur, very clean/new looking. Looks like this, but the clamp isn't engraved:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2130/2355151004_9bcd831d38.jpg?v=0

-Sakae drop bars

-Guidons Philippe ATAX Franco Italia D352 drop bars (commonly found on old French bikes)

-several chome Schwinn handlebars

All bars are 26.0mm clamp

I think this is it for me. Hmmm, thought I went further back than that.

Around here (college town) you're likely to have profanities yelled at you by frat boys whether you're on the road or the sidewalk. I'm a fan of bike lanes personally, but when they appear and disappear without warning???

And when you run into someone going the wrong way in one???
