Bicycle Mechanics - SRAM Rival Shifter in the "fully-released position"?

Hi Everyone

I'm new to the SRAM double-tap shifters world and have a question.

As I'm setting the front derailleur, I need to set the left shifter in the "fully released position". How do I know I am in this position?

Okay, I think I figured it out - I grabbed the cable end and clicked the left shifter until there was the lowest amount of tension on the cable.

So now I'm shifting and it takes and unreal amount of finger power to shift to the large cog. Is this normal? My fingers are hurting me right now.

I agree, and I've had Ultegra before and it didn't react like this.

Btw, all parts are new out of the box.

You were bang on! I wasn't setting the cable in an "L" shape. Thanks :thumb:

I have another question!

In this SRAMtech video, at 6:10 he states that the big chainring doesn't have a trim position; strangely enough, mine does. If i'm in the large chainring and I tap the left shifter, the derailleur comes back in just slightly, indicating trim to me.
Am I doing this right?

yes there is a trim for the big ring but not the small
