Has anyone here ever used these tires? I don't know anything about them and I found a sweetheart of a deal on two of them new.
Used to buy them cheap on sale for flips. Performance or Nashbar was blowing them out for a while.

Yes, I've used them. They started to come apart in less than 200 miles. If you do a search, you won't find a lot of love for Hutchinsons.

There's a local guy on CL selling two brand new ones for ten bucks. I figure for $10 I can't go wrong.

I tried them and thought they were awful. Very unreliable. I like some of there other tires though.

So would it even be a waste of my 10.00 on two of them?

I've been using Hutchinson tires (mostly Fusion and Fusion 2) for quite a few years and have been very happy. Haven't tried the Equinox and have some new Atom's going on the Spectrum which my dad has ridden for quite a awhile and liked those tires.

I have two sets of Equinox, purchased for the price and the color, for particular builds.
I am not a big fan of them; haven't had a problem yet, but they're not exactly performers or long-wearing.
I think I paid $15/each at Performance. That's about what they're worth.
If you really want to grind through cheap tires, Kenda Koncepts wear a little better, roll a little better.
For your mentioned $10 pair, run 'em ragged, give up coffee for a couple of weeks, and buy some sturdier tires.
Depending on my needs, I'd buy them and wear them out.
The OP was specific, so I'll stay that way. $10 for a pair of new tires is pretty good, even if they're bad.
However, in the long run, even a $10 pair of poor tires is more expensive than a $100 pair of really good tires.

I have some atoms on a couple bikes ad really love them. A very nice ride.
I went through three tubes in 30 miles on an equinox. The sidewall deformed and was puncturing my tubes. I gave them a second try with a brand new one and had similar experiences. I just do not ride them anymore.

My local Performance Bike was clearing the Atoms out at $11 a tire. I bought 2 sets. So check you local PB, but YMMV. The Atoms is 190g.

I've got a set on my second bike...I usually ride this bike about 300 miles a year. This is the third year for these tires...not a problem. These have the grey stripe around the outside. Don't know if this makes a difference but I have seen a host of problems from other riders.

You should not be sending me anything, I have something of yours. I got a box and will pack it up this week btw.

FWIW- I recently got a pretty good deal and threw a pair of these on my bike. With probably less that 200 miles, the tires became mis-shaped with various bulges and in some areas looking somewhat S shaped. I also got a blow out where the tire wore through in one area.
One of the guys at my LBS was surprised to see this and commented that he generally likes Hutchinsons. I don't know if this model is bad, if it was a bad batch or perhaps is a case of terrible consistency or quality control. For the the brief period that they worked, they rode pretty nicely and were light, but based on this experience, I could not recommend that anyone get these tires.
