The bike Gods are messing with me again...I have hauled in not one, not two but FOUR folding bikes in the past couple of months.

Most recently a pair of Dahon's, one is an oddball with a Sachs Torpedo hub,(1983/4?) the other is dated to 1987/88 by the SA AW hub.

The other "pair" are a Rixe and an Atala, I have yet to completely pin down the date on either one of them. The Rixe seems like a late 60's bike, the Atala a bit newer?

Here are the quick and dirty pictures. I will get beauty shots later. The Rixe is a very low end bike with some surprising nice components, the Atala is a decent build all the way.

I'd like to find a nice folder. Not sure how much I would actually use it around here. I just think they can look so cool.

I have a few others...Twenty's and a Raleigh Compact RSW. The Rixe and Atala came from the LBS, the Dahons one of the local church thrift shops. I actually have one of the Dahon's in my car trunk right now. The Twenty is a tad too big to take on the road since I have been downsized from a pickup truck to a Honda Accord. I have been saving my pennies (pence?) for a Brompton.

I find a folder all but indispensable in my most of my travels, comes in handy if you decide to take a taxi home from the local pub too. ;)

Generally, folders seem to have little value. I sold a BSA for ten bucks on Ebay and I still have a Raleigh folder and an Olmo...

We sell a lot of old folders in our shop.
One reason is the fact that some of the subways have older, smaller ‘cars’, and you cannot bring a regular bike onto those cars, but you can bring your folder.

It may depend on the specific folder and the locale too. I am seeing Dahon's like the ones I have (in slightly better shape) going for ~$150-$200. Raleigh Twenty's are getting insane, I have seen 2 in okay condition go for over $300.
