>.> I'm not even a teacher and I'm sick of the school system, my sister is a teacher and I help her out in any small way I can... IE stocking her classroom with computers, maintaining them, tracking down good educational software for her needs etc.

Anyways, my god father's (may he RIP) son, had the company he works for donate most of the computers and I fixed them up and got them ready, they even donated some decent old school crt monitors. I put these computers in the classroom and everything seemed fine.. until the call 2 weeks later.. in a school with CRT TV's and other crap, crt computer monitors are a "fire hazard" and can't be in the school...fine dandy whatever. I was discussing this with my father, we decided together to replace the CRT's with LCD's, out of our personal pocket since my sister is a teacher with no extra money.. I go down to the school and install the new monitors, take the old monitors to the e-waste place since I couldn't find them a new home. Turns out, the school refuses to support 2 of the 3 computers because they're "Too old" this coming from a school that gives a special ed class only 1 computer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So her oldest comp broke down today, and I'm giving her my backup computer now and she tells me she's not even sure she's going to have a job at that school next year!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll spare you all the details.. but let's just say she's definitely doing her job and more. /end rant

Those educators apparently do not know the meaning of "looking a gift horse in the mouth".

Kudos to you. I wouldn't have had that much composure.

I've experienced similar frustrations in trying to donate stuff. Places want you to come back on Tuesday between X and Y (mid-day, during working hours) to accept your donation. Or they won't help you unload it. Or other stupid conditions they demand in order to accept your DONATION.

I get that people will just try and dump their trash, but c'mon... if someone is trying to donate something, inspect it to see if it's something you need and then accept it... without conditions!
