so, i've been riding around with a pair of g-form pads http://g-form.com/ (http://g-form.com/product/elbow-pads/) for the past few weeks (i've been wearing the knee pads)....
i like em. they are super light, not bulky at all, hardly anything there, they can fit under loose jeans and you can't tell you have them on. I havne't had to "use" them yet, really, but i gotta say, they are great for a minor spill.
if you haven't seen them or know of them, they are these thin, lightweight magical substance that is soft and pliable, until impact, then it becomes a hard shell and protects you. apparently some roadies are using them in crits.
they are light, as i said, and so they are comfortable. they aren't bulky or heavy and don't leave your knees and shins all sweaty after a ride. they provide decent protection for the casual to moderate (whatever that means) rider.
racing super d? no.
want "armor" so you don't get all scraped up or broken but you ride conservatively enough (be honest with yourself) that you probably won't need armor, but you wanna be safe? hells yes.
as always, these are just my opinions, they are free and not really worth the price.
anyone else use them or tried them?
