Mountain Biking - Are Mag's better then Nines?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have a set of Nines right now, but one of the levers is wreked, so I found a good deal on a used set of compleat f&r Hayes Mag's
Am I better off with the Mags or the Nines, I know the problems the Nines have, but I don't know anything about the mag, are they very different?

Mags are better, better modulation.
And don't take that deal away from me, I am going for that 269 deal myself :)

The Mags have a better lever, calipers are the same...

so are the calipers interchangable? I mean can I use my old one with these new ones if need be? I would think so.

Yes they both use a Hayes G2 caliper, so hang on to the old ones. The big difference is in the master cylinder design with the Mag being the better of the two.
I used to have nines and my new bike has the mags. The mags have better modulation and they feel more comfortable to use.
I have ridden hopper's old bike and new
The mags have SO MUCH more power than the nines...........
