I'm looking for the frame weight of the Giant AluxX 6061 (as used on the Rincon and Yukon (although I believe the Yukon has integrated gussets and the Rincon doesn't)), GT Avalanche series and Trek's Alpha SL (as used on the 4300 and 4500). I checked Weight Weenies but they're not listed there. Anyone know where I can find them?

And for those who are familiar with them, which would be the best frame? I heard a lot of good things about the Avalanche frames (very stiff and durable though not the lightest (but which is in this price category anyway?). AluxX 6061 reasonable although a mechanic on this forum said he regularly had customers with broken AluxX frames? Can't find too much about Alpha SL, I assume it's not that different from the Giant's.

I've seen quite a few broken Aluxx frames myself, Ranier's, Boulders and Warps... esp. the Warps... usually fails at a weld so its not necessarily any fault of the material.

Honestly in that price range it doesn't really matter in my opinion. Most frames are made by Giant anyways, so I would guess that they are all "aluxx" in truth. They can put whatever name they want on it but all the low end stuff is pretty much either 6061 or 7005 aluminum.
