Idea is to post pics of your NEW N+1 of 2012 along with a brief comment. No extra comments from "NON" N+1 members- Just the new bikes with a comment from the owner.

SEE how it works--Mine will follow in a few days when I get it.

Purchased January 20th. It replaces a similar S1 (Team Soloist) that has an aluminum frame with it's carbon frame.

I'll be switching out to a Campagnolo Centaur groupset so my hands don't have to speak multiple languages (nothing wrong with the Rival on it now).

Love the bike - it helps smooth out the poor road surfaces I usually ride on. It's motivated me to ride a bit more than I usually do. Woohoo - first new road bike I've purchased since 1983!

'07 Cannondale Caffeine 29er Lefty new to me. Really loving being back on a mountain bike. Really takes your mind away from things. Nothing to think about except what is right in front of you. I can ride most all winter and............ at night! Really helps to keep in shape over the winter. Wind chill at 5-8 mph isn't anything compared to 10-25mph! Plus there are no winds in the woods :)

Picked this up January 31st. Colnago Ace w/Ultegra components. So far this bike has been awesome. Waiting for the red Zipp bar tape and second bottle cage to come in.

After building this in September 2011;

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/wildcat-bucket/CG2001-1.jpg

I built these in 2012;

Origin 8 CX700 Monster Cross. This tough bike will be used for 50/50 trails and pavement. It will also be my primary winter snow & ice bike.

The frame is ideal for my budget Monster-cross build. With room for 700x50 tires, disc or cantilever brakes, Road or MTB rear drop-out spacing. The rear-entry horizontal rear drop-outs will permit single-speed, IGH and derailleur drivetrains. The frame-set is a bit heavier than a Surly Cross Check, the rear drop-outs and the fork are extra strong & heavy and a little overbuilt.

It took a few weeks of searching, finding a frameset wasn’t easy. These sell out quickly and are prices at about $200 for both the frame & fork. I finally found one on eBay in December. The geometry in the largest size is a good fit for me. The frame arrived and I was surprised at the quality. The tube-set is 4130 aerospace standard. The welds are skillfully done, but less smooth than my Soma. The paint was very good, with good color and as tough as most automotive finishes.

I wanted to keep costs low, so I decided on cantilever brakes. The Tektro 720 brakes are good performers at a great price. Rim-brake touring wheels are also budget friendly, I found a new set of 40 spoke Velocity Dyad on Formula high flange hubs for about $130 delivered. Disc brakes would have been nice, but they limit racking options, add weight and would require a pricier wheelset.

I was hoping to use a Shimano 105 triple crank-set and build a 3x10 drivetrain, but the arms on road crank with external bearings won’t clear the chain-stays. So I installed a Shimano Deore “Trekking” crank-set with 48, 36 and I installed a 22t small chainring. This was matched to a 12-27 nine speed cassette. Tiagra STI “brifters” and a front derailleur for triple were installed. A Deore SGS rear derailleur completes the drivetrain.

The handlebars needed to fit the off-road personality of the build, Salsa Moto-Ace Woodchipper handle bars improve rough surface stability and work well with STI levers. A Thomson Elite seat-post is held by Surly seat-post clamp. To save some weight and to add mid-blade fork rack mounts, I replaced the Origin 8 fork with a new Surly Cross Check fork. The fork is much lighter, looks great and should provide a more compliant ride.

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/wildcat-bucket/CX700snow001.jpg

My loaded touring bike for tow paths and pavement. It can support 40 lbs of racks & loaded packs. Could go coast to coast.

• 48, 36 & 22t triple with a 12-27 nine-speed cassette
• Salsa Woodchipper bars and bar end shifters
• 40 spoke Velocity Dyad 29er rims with high flange hubs
• 700x38 Schwalbe Marathon Cross tires

I did NOT plan to buy a new bike last year. Who does? I asked the shop to install Di2 on my "old" bike, but in the course of stripping it down they found that it needed to be repaired because of a gouge in the frame from a chain drop. So while I was waiting, I bought a new Cervelo R5 and built it up with Di2 instead:

Replaced my former commuter, a '07 Schwinn Le Tour GS, that was totaled by a Camry last October. Opted for a cross bike so I could run 35s and fenders on it (fenders are due to arrive tomorrow). Quite a comfortable ride.

Somewhere, my N+1 for 2012 bike is being assembled, and eventually it wlll find it's way to me. Until that day comes, I must find contentment at drooling over everyone else's new bike, be it 2012 or otherwise. I'm almost to the point where I have the Specialized, Giant, Trek, Fuji, and Felt websites memorized now. Others, like Jamis, are getting close. Is it a bad sign when you have all the manufacturers websites saved in a bookmark folder? If so, I'm doomed.

went to look at a Raleigh RX-1 a friend had for sale. We haggeled over price of my sizeand couldn't come to an agreement. Looked at an older OCR-2 and were close. Then he took me to another room, the guy has at least 40 bikes from at least 4 decades and over in the back behind a bunch of Mountain bikes I saw a Klein Quantum. It is at the limit for my size and needs some minor work but nothing I can't deal with. The paint is good and I get to ride it for a week just to make sure it fits or that I can adjust to make it fit. Something tells me I may work real hard to get this just right and it may be staying with me. I won't tell you how much he wants but lets say I couldn't get a Fixie or SS for the price. I think I will chance the saddle however to one of my Selles. I only put some old water bottle cages and a old computer I had to test it. What do you think Step?:D

Some good bikes appearing and all seem good- Except for the trike and I think that may need too much work to be a good ride.

But keep them coming- At least we can see the bikes on here and IF you are thinking of any bike For your own N+1--If it appears on here- you have a contact to ask the right questions.

AND That N+1 Of mine- No problems from the wife over it or the price or how full the shed is getting-- Found out tonight-- She is looking at VW camper vans --One of her little dreams. Knew I should have tried the dogma.

Ok I have been working on my N+1 Klein and I changed the saddle, retaped the bars. adjusted the derailleur and took stock on what I have. Looks like it is a 90-91 Klein Quantum frame, 7400 Dura Ace STI Shifters. Dura Ace Brakes, Dura Ace Head set, Dura Ace Crank, Arm and Bottom bracket. It has Mavic Open Pro rims. Sapim spokes and nipples, Dura Ace Hubs front and rear, Speed Play Stainless Pedals and Cinelli Giro Italia Bars. I cleaned it up and added a Selle San Marcos Saddle, some old white bottle cages I had, a Second Wind pump and a new set of Gator Skins. Today I ordered a new rear Cassette and chain and am working on a Dura Ace quill stem to go with the Dura Ace seat Post. I discovered that I can no longer push a 52x39 chainring with a 12x23 cassette up hill so I will give a 12x26 a try. This isn't my climbing bike anyway so it should be Ok for club rides now and then and weeked trips around town. Besides now I can post in Classic and vintage. LOL Yes I am a happy camper because it rides much better than I had thought.

My Neighbours new bike. British manufacturer and it is a Forme Victeur. CF Frame and forks- 105 Brifters and Deraillers- Tektro brakes and Truvativ Elita Compact crank. Wheels are Alex Rims onto Formula Hubs. Bought as a 2011 at a discounted price and only problem is the white bar tape and a slightly long cockpit.That will be corrected.
