BMX - So I just bought back my first BMX bike...

Back when I was 13, I got into bmx when I bought my first bike. It was a DK Fury seven years ago. Eventually bought a fit, so I sold it to a friend for $80. Fast forward seven years, and I get into fixed gear. I still hang out with the friend, and remembered he had it.

He let it rust outside for awhile because the chain was barely moveable. The bar angle was ****ed (probably from wrecking) and the back wheel is out of true. The cranks are still loose (I tried hard to tighten) and the frame is beat. It had skinnier race axles, so I can never run pegs but I live close to a fat indoor park, so I just ride ramps.

I bought it back for $30 and plan to replace the wheels, sprocket/cranks, and bars. Good deal?

What parts/wheels should I buy?

$30? Not a bad deal if you don't already have a bmx. As far as parts/wheels to put on it, put on what you want. Another option is to instead of buying all those parts, just buy a new bike. What type of riding are you gonna do with this? Park, street or general rider?

As far as riding on it, I would be scared of riding an older, rusted bike in a park. Like midschool said, new would probably be a better option right about now. But definitely clean it up and keep it for sentimental value!

Went to a bike shop which was more road/family oriented and did my best with the parts they had there. It was in-between class, so I asked them if they would mind if I used their tools and a stand to build it with the parts I bought from them. They didn't care. I like how it came out.

I plan on using this thing for stupid weather commuting ("why is that fool riding right now?" kind of ****) and then eventually I'd like to trick on it. Park and trails for me. I was always awful at street.

Bring on the hate. I've seen some stupid looking bmx bikes in my day, and I think this one is moderate at worst.
