Mountain Biking - Mavic 117s or No Name Wheels? Which to keep

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I need to make a choice for my son's 05 Rockhopper. I just upgraded the old bike to discs with some BB7s. Through some wheel replacement on my bikes, I now have a choice between two sets of wheels to use. The first set came off my 05 FSR XC. They are Mavic 117s with a Shimano rear hub and a Specialized Stout front hub. The 117s are the lowest level Mavics and do not have reinforce eyelets.
The other set looks like a house brand, maybe from Performance. They are a semi-aero type rim, laced to some Pivit brand hubs, front and rear. One nice thing about this set is, they have reinforced eyelets.
So which is the better set, the name brand, low end rim or the no-name with better construction? IMHO, the Mavics have better hubs. The Pivit hubs closely resemble hubs I've seen on inexpensive bikes that are the first level to have disc brakes.
Your thoughts?

Mavic XM117 is a good, solid wheel. Anything branded by Performance Bike is likely to be nearly crap.
