After 12 years, I need to replace the BB on my 2000 Veloce. I've been looking around and I can get a new Veloce BB for about $40 or a Centaur for $66. The few grams of weight difference does not matter to me. Would there be any advantage to going with the more expensive Centaur part?

I assume you've found an AC-S and an AC-H. The only difference is weight, so it's your call, but you should be able to find an AC-H (Daytona/Centaur) for less than that.

Seen both yourself? IDK specifics, in your case,
but there are 2 ways they fitted, ones I have.
internal spline , same tool as their Freehub lockring.
Or external, out side edge of it .. spline , big ring wrench.. Park makes a tool for that.

The latter let me slide an O ring on the spindle , before I fit the crank arm,
that adds another seal against crud, to have to pass thru to contaminate the bearing.
Get some squeaks if O ring is dry..

Not sure what AC-S and AC-H are. Campy model numbers?

Haven't seen them in person, shopping online. It's the same one as you say are using. 68mm shell, 111mm spindle with a racing triple on it. All the sites selling them suggest the 115mm for a triple, but this is what my bike came with and there is plenty of clearance.

I've already got Park's wrench for it.

AC-H (hollow spindle) ans AC-S (solid spindle) are the actual designations for the Bbs themselves, as opposed to the group they came with. AC-S came with Mirage, and AC-H with Daytona/Centaur. Veloce came with either depending on the year.

you saying AC-S fixes the crank arm onto the solid spindle with a Nut?

No, it's has a solid spindle, drilled and tapped at both ends for the standard crank bolts. Also some of my earliest versions had steel "cups" or mounting end caps, vs. aluminum in the AC-H. I only imported AC-S for one year, then specified AC-H for all my low end groups because the cost difference was small and I didn't feel it made sense to sell the boat anchors as after market items.

No, they are both bolted ISO square taper spindles. The AC-H designation means the spindle is drilled through (i.e. hollow) to save a bit of weight while the AC-s has a solid, slightly heavier spindle.
