I'm hopeful to spend a few weekends this spring doing some short tours, in anticipation of a ride from Gainesville to Athens (I know, it's dumb, but I have to start small). I'm out o' shape, but was thinking of a ride from Flowery Branch to a campground at Lake Lanier to get things started. Having never cycled heavily on the narrow roads here in Georgia, I'm hoping to get together with a few other sweaty humans and give it a try.

I would also be willing to do some greenway rides around Suwanee, Alpharetta, Silver Comet, Stone Mt, whatever. Just need to find some people to ride with that aren't too far out of my league. Think Little League. Think fat guy in a little coat. But also think how much fun!

I would love to ride with you when I come up to Georgia in the summer. My sister lives in Gainesville and the last time I tried to ride up there I never connected with anyone and the hills kicked my Florida butt. In the meantime you might want to check out the Southern Bicycle League for more info and contacts in your area

Sounds great, Red. Just let me know when you're coming up, and let's ride!

I am a bit south but I'm itching to do the full Silver Comet Trail in a day, from the Trailhead to Alabama and back.

If you ever want to ride down to the Pine Mountain Foothills let me know. My current comfortable speed on a long ride is 15-17mph average.
