Hello everyone. I live in Hawaii and we only have a limited number of road races in the season. There is usually a 2-4 week gap in between the races. I am finding it hard to keep myself motivated on the hard interval days when this little voice in my head keeps saying "Why are you doing this, there is no races for another month"! Any of you have any suggestions?

TCT,
I haven't tried racing, but I hope to this summer. I know several people who do. Here in New Orleans the local racing and "hope-to-race" community is pretty active. There are several racing clubs. Now they are luck to have races pretty much every weekend somewhere within a 2-6 hour drive. For those that can't get to all of the races there are several weekly group rides that are well-attended. On Tuesday and Thursday evenings there are "training races" of about 25 miles. These are very intense race simulations. On Saturday and Sunday mornings early there are longer, about 50 miles, and slightly (just barely) less intense than the training races, but still include numerous sprints, attacks, etc. These training rides obviously cannot replace actual races, but the guys that do them regularly really enjoy the workout and camaraderie. Each of these rides is pretty well-attended with anywhere from 10 to 30 riders. Is there a group you can do something like this with? If not, maybe you can get one started.
FWIW,
Raymond
