Mountain Biking - ride pics... ss + snow + wide bars rock

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Took out the ol' SS today for a ride, sporting some new 26" risers to replace the 21 3/4" flat I had on there. The extra leverage makes a HUGE difference on the climbs... the front end is much more controllable. Running rigid, 32x18. These were all taken at Yankee Springs here in Western MI.

Anyways whoever can tell what kind of fork is on the bike gets something... I dont know what though.

Some nice rutted rooted short climb.

BIG tree that fell recently... someone broke a few ribs on it last week. (remember kids, always ride 20ft ahead of yourself)

Mmmm... technical downhill. Miss the little bridge and its all over :p

At the top of a heart-attack worthy climb.

Thats about a 300-400ft drop behind the bike.

Your seat looks about 20 miles higher than your bars :|

Nice scenery there, looks awful cold though...

The fork is the ORINGAL 1 1/8th threaded Kona Project Two... doesn't even say Kona on the fork... found it in the basement at work last week.

I'm 22.

Temp was around 32, with no wind. Gear was a longsleeve Sugoi Jersey, with tube socks made into arm warmers underneath, midweight Sugoi vest, insulated Sugoi tights (I like Sugoi, can you tell?), and Specialized Subzero gloves. Two pair of socks, one heavy one very thin, and overall very comfortable.

I forgot to add about the bike... its a 50cm, roughly a 19", old skool geometry, so for me that means a lot of seatpost and a 130mm stem.

is that a recent picture of you in your avitar? You look much younger there..

Its a few weeks old, I do look young as is, and look even younger than usual in that pic. I should probably change it, but I'm awfully lazy.

I swear that pic is more than a few weeks old... I remember it being your avatar when I first signed up (unless I'm just not remembering right).

I just measured my bars, 60 cm. Must be a solid fork thing.

Yes, everyone I know is like OH MY GOD YOU LOOK LIKE HARRY POTTER... my girlfriend never lets me forget (I get introduced by "doesn't he look like Harry Potter?")

The pic is no more than a month old... I took it maybe 4-5wks ago in class for a project.

I live in Grand Rapids 'bout 45min N. of Yankee Springs, but I still make the trip at least 2x a week since its the only trail open during hunting season, and really the only local trail worth riding.

Man I wish I had the little snow cover you had. I would be riding every day.

I recognised this fork immediately!
I used to have this one as a replacement for my Marzocchi XC500 supspension fork - years ago (it was in 1995/1996) - for my Kona Kula. This fork is 700 gramms something. I still should have it in my basement :). Unfortunately my Kona (2 years ago) and Marzocchid (4 years ago) both died.
