Classic & Vintage - Old Brakes, New(er) Frame. Cut Down or Kludge?
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I bought a nice (but somewhat rough) set of Superbe brakes to go on my Nishiki Internation Rat Racer project. The frame has recessed brake bolts but the brakes do not. Should I cut down and re-thread the brakes or kludge the fit? I did the former on another bike during my youth, but was wondering if the latter was possible and if so, where to source the needed spacer.
