Efforts to build a National Trail System

American Discovery Trail, which travels 6,800 miles from California to Delaware, splits off only in the middle of the country and crosses the Mississippi River in two places - the Quad-Cities and St. Louis.

There description on the home page is false. It's not a "coast-to-coast, non-motorized recreational trail." Look at the individual state descriptions. There are plenty of on-road sections. In fact, I would bet that most of it is on-road. And sidewalks?

They used to give the maps and cue sheet online for free but now charge for each section, although they don't maintain any of the paths themselves. I think they currently don't offer printed maps either.

And yes, much of the ADT is sidewalks and roadwalks. I still have the cue sheets when they were a free website.

Wonder if they have done their legal research. Sidewalk riding is illegal in many places, and for good reason.
