I was on here about 4 or 5 years ago (amazing it has been that long) started riding, my left foot got screwed up quit, started again, foot screwed up again.. quit sold bike and trainer and the whole nine yards. Never found the root cause but after I stopped riding the pain eventually went away.
Now at 51 and 50 lbs over weight I thought time to give it another shot. I bought a cheap excersie bike and have been hitting it 4 time a week, taking it easy not to screw my foot or knee up and am now looking at bike.
Of course I have more questions now than when I went in to the LBS... comfort, cyclocross, mtb, hybrid... road.... I feel like Robin Williams on Moscow on the Hudson when he was trying to buy coffee.
My wife says I dont need a bike, we have enough clothes hangers already....
I like the looks of the specilized sirrus or the trek FX.. as soon as the weather is a little nicer I will go and do some test rides....
