Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am afraid that Club Tombay has not been reported on much recently and membership records are non-existant. So it has been decided that as of today's date- all past attempts to join Club Tombay have been annulled. In future you will have to apply for membership on an incident basis and forms will be forwarded to you after you have reported the incident for appraisal by other forum members. Remember this is an exclusive club and stringent rules have to apply before membership is accepted.
You can assist your application by posting pics of the incident or of the injuries sustained or by providing definite proof that the incident occured with witness statements.
In the interim period- There are a few 50+ forum members That have been awarded a Life time membership for their many incidents over many years and they will no longer have to re-apply for membership in the future. Those members are

I wish I had read this thread before I responded to the other one.
I deserve the award by the way.

I know you do and that is why it was awarded to you. At least you won't have to try and get into Club Tombay again as this is a lifetime award and you won't be getting another--Unless you think you can stand the pain of more broken bones for 6 months?

Broken bones aren't so bad, they heal. I'm still better off than the Deege. At least I didn't punch some goth girl in the fist with my eye.

The next step is to achieve the Oaf Leaf Cluster(f).

Must there be witness verification... like for a hole in one? OTOH, I probably wouldn't want to be a member of a club that would admit a person like me.:)

I was thinking some kind of patch or emblem to go on the 50+ jersey. Or maybe epaulets ..... yeah that's it!

I hate to be a wet blanket, but I have only had 3 Tombays in 13 years. Two of those were not witnessed, and the third was only a "semi-Tombay." Does that qualify me for an award?

Denver, it was good enough for membership in the original club. But I see your point - it doesn't sound like a body of work that would elevate it to Lifetime Achievement. I think you'll need a few more. And get some witnesses, for Pete's sake!

I think one could get the Congressional Medal of Tombay if he generates a Craigslist post like this:
24 y/o swsg looking for some old coot seen on 34th Street.
Hi! I'm the long legged blond who saw you keel over at the stop sign. It was really cool how you had both feet still clipped in and you couldn't get the bike from off the top of you. I was kind of LMAO (and a lovely A I have, or so I've been told) but I felt so sorry for you because you reminded me of the time my grandpa who has Parkinson's disease, fell down on his walker and had to go to the ER to get his head stitched up. You were adorable when you took you helmet off and pushed the left side of your hair over on the big bald patch on the top of your head. Anyway, I can forward my cell phone pictures to you if you send me your email address. BTW, nice move to strain your neck to try to catch a glimpse up my dress, especially how it was no panty Thursday. You horny bastard, you're cute.

Well, the first two were within a month of using SPD's, where I was smart enough to try them in a secluded area. The next one was while I was trying to avoid a little kid who unexpectedly kicked a ball into my path and the mom was chasing it. Even though I was going very slow, I did not have time to remove my SPD from the clip, and fell, There may have been one other, but I don't recall it very well. And it has been 14 years, not 13.

I like Dudelsack's better and I don't even care if it's true or not.

Does this mean my prior reporting didn't happen? How about style points for an acrobatic stop sign grab that wrapped me around the sign post?

Very shortly-I will have some spare time in between my new position of Estate management that will only involve some gardening- some property maintenance- some outbuildings that will have to kept up and more importantly maintaining the machinery within that outbuilding and of course the testing of them. In preparation for this new role I have purchased a new computer and I have sufficient time to keep and maintain records of Club Tombay. I also am (Or was ) proficient at DTP work and have come up with certificates for those members of the forum that are unfortunate enough to join this "Elite" club.
What I do not have time for is to troll through 8 years of Postings to see who has in the past become eligible.:troll: Hence the Fact that Past entries to the club have been annulled. :bang:
To help me in the role of deciding who will have their applications accepted- I have made 3 life memberships to esteemed past recipients who will be making the decisions of acceptance or denial of club Membership. If There is an element of doubt involved- Then this is where the Life time members will make their decision
So no more bleating about your fall in 2008 being eligible for membership as although it may have counted--I don't have time to verify the fact:notamused:
What will happen in future is that you will report your application on the forum and if sufficient evidence is made available- then you will be awarded a class one 1-2-or 3 certificate as a reward for your pain--The pain part is obligatory:innocent:

Heck, I'm glad to have the dang thing off of my record now. As to requiring a witness, I think if someone is stup....er..... brave enough to come here and tell about falling because they didn't/couldn't clip out says plenty. I kind of doubt we have enough masochist here to just fall so they can come get a Tombay membership. Think of this as a second chance at life Deege and the new Masi will thank you too.

Well, if we're getting do-overs on our Tombays, then I want a mulligan on my teeth, my eyesight, and my hair. Just sayin'
