Please help me identify and appraise this old Peugeot. I don't know if it is a Carbolite 103 frame or what (waiting to hear back from the seller). What would you pay for it through craigslist? Seller states it was fully serviced two years ago but has not been ridden since. Sorry for the small picture, that's what was on CL.

Buying it off that pic I would say $50. you can't see any detail in that pic. While the bike may have been "serviced" two years ago that means little. what was serviced? where was the bike stored in the last two years? if the bike had a complete overhaul but was left in the corner of an old barn it need service again.

see if you can get some better pics from the seller.

Looks like lower end model I would also say this is only about a $50 bike as is. You see a lot of these older low end Pugs on CL sometimes several new ones a day in bigger cities in most cases the initial asking prices are just way too high. You shouldn't pay much more than $100 for a low end carbolite Pueget.

Thanks for your replies. Yeah, the seller is asking $65, so I figured anywhere around $50 is a fair price. I will go take a look at it.

+1 Can't tell a thing from that picture. If it is pristine, ready to ride, with fresh tires, cables, bearings, and grease, it could be worth $150 to $175. It does not appear to be in that condition.

$50 sounds like a deal, but just consider who is going to do whatever work it might need. If you plan on doing the work yourself (or have a friend or volunteer that can do the work for you), DEAL. If you have to pay a shop to do that work, not such a good deal.

I think I see a cotterless aluminum crankset. If so, that is a good sign. Should be worth $50 either way.
