Okay peoples!

Today I was trying out some helmets because of the enourmous sale they had there. All the helmets that actually fit me looked sort of stupid. My head looked like a tower with a fat top. Is this how helmets are supposed to look?

If you people will, take a picture of yourself with your helmet on. Meanwhile, I'm going to check the hucking thread for helmets.

Note that this applies to non full face helmets.

I look the same way with those kinda helmets...Giro's dont look too bad though, my Bell looks wicked tall. I got a hugeeeee head.

If you go up in price they tend to be slimmer and better looking on your noggin, I had an old Bell that looked rediculous, but I got a new Bell for about $100 and its really really thin and light, to the point people compliment it. But yeah, they do look kinda funny!

I don't like the really tall part, but full faces are too expensive. I'll have to look around. Meanwhile, peoples, please post!

It seems a little big, but it's not too bad.

My head is quite oval like. Heh I can see why my head would stick out when I wear a helmet.

Yeha my helmet looks like it is just resting ontop of my head, so I bought a skateeboard type helmet, I am more used to it and it fits better, PLUS way more sticker space! :)

in my experience, cheaper helmets look really stupid. I've tried some more expensive ones and they sit quiet nicely.

Perhaps you mean phallic.

Maelstrom
12-19-04, 03:15 PM
No I wear one....but I hate it, full face rocks, but is pretty dumb to wear for xc.

mispelled. Phallic

I can see it now!

Maelstrom's riding in local park, just for fun, nothing serious and he's wearing a full face. Heh heh heh. That would be sort of extremz0rz.

Alright I'll cut it out.

Well it really depends on who you're trying to impress I suppose. If you're going for the brain damaged, cross-eyed, drooling fool trying to get a nurse's attention because he's peed himself AGAIN, I guess the no helmet look will suffice. Otherwise, who really gives two ****es what you look like in a helmet. Just ride, have fun and play safe. Just my .02

Word. I ride for myself, and helmet+glasses+gloves are mandatory safety equipment no matter where I'm going.

Dude, I don't know why, but your face looks so cool like that. I like the little beard. Um, yes, the helmet does look odd like that.

rofl, before i got my bell nemesis 2 pro with molded technology, i had a 15 year old huffy women's helmet. And i still wore it. Just to be gay.

That's right...
My friends made me take it off when we were in public :(+

i saw that town on ripley's believe it or not. After the initial shock lasted 30 seconds, it got really boring and I switched the channel.

look at my avatar for a pic of what I used to wear. I use a Louis Gearneau(sp?) T-Bone now. I keep forgeting Im wearing a helmet, its so comfortable.I think, but am not sure, its a road helmet. I had switched to a Mongoose BMX helmet with some minor mods I made for ventilation and that thing is a little heavy but Com-for-table to say the least. a goofy look in your helmet is still a lot nicer than a head full of stitches or worse. tell the fashion police to get bent and wear what you like and fits your head.heres a pic of the t bone

I just got a Bell X-Games DH/BMX helmet. It weights 2.2lbs but gives me a slight neck ache from the weight. It'd be great to use this 15 vent helmet in the summer. What sort of vent mods did you make and did it make the helmet a little lighter weight.

the vents did not channel the air like a mt.bike helmet so I looked at one and got a knife and scraped the inside to look like the mt bike helmet. it was mostly widening them a little on the inside of the helmet. I wanted to scrape more but integrity of the helmet would have suffered. I got that pain for a bit too but it just built up the muscles. the helmet was surprisingly not too hot when riding but hot as hades when not riding. it was super comfortable too

give me a coulpe of weeks to earn money and then ill send a pic of me normal and me fully decked for a ride, and something else i noticed, well, as evrybody knows a safe/good bike generally looks good right? well, somebody fully decked actually looks better than normally, because you can tell that they are serious about it. brains are almost important as sexual organs, look after them, now i think about it they are sorta the same thing lol

My new MET 5TH Element lid is alot wider than my old MET Crackerjack lid but i really dont care what i look like. Its infinitely more preferable to a wheelchair, drooling and having to have people take care of me for the rest of my life. I never ride without my helemt, ever.

Mine sits on the top of my head sort of. It's comfortable though, it's a Giro Havoc.
This was about a year ago.
