Bicycle Mechanics - Replacement for Campy chainring?

The 40t Veloce chainring on my Campy triple is bent and causing me shifting problems. I've been looking around online and not finding a lot of 40T rings for it. Plenty of 39's and some 41's however. I ran across this on Ebay which appears to be a compatible ring from TA. The price is right, even after shipping. Anyone have any experience using Campy compatible TA stuff?

Yes. I've had partial success. It's not as bad as it was, but still slightly bent and giving me some false shifting on the front until I trim the FD just right.

Campag 135 triple 40t has shift assist pins on the inside face.
a double inside ring will lack that.

anyhow TA stuff is top tier .. 7075/Ergal.

I did notice some almost flush pins on the inside face of both the middle and outer rings, about a mm below where the chain rides. They didn't appear to protrude enough to be of any usage. Are those what you are talking about?

I did a search and found some info. Those are what you are talking about. From Branfordbike.com:
All current Campagnolo middle and outer chainrings use steel chain pick up pins and have precisely machined teeth. Chain pick up pins are only used on middle, for triple chainring cranks, and outer rings for triple and double chain ring cranks. They help to lift your chain when you are shifting from a smaller ring into a bigger ring. Note how the teeth above the pick up pins are profiled to further assist in up shifting.

Thanks to the info. I'll see if I can straighten it a little more. I'll have the crank off again soon to replace the BB.

Is the bolt circle correct?

all the modern campy road triples i have seen were 135bcd. there used to be an ebay seller that had a bucketload of 42t rings from campy triples. i know it would change your gearing but if they are still around they were a steal for $15 shipped. i run one on my single speed. the pins dont do me any good but they would help your situation.

TA chainrings are very good. solid durability. Although I'm running Shimano compatible rings, I have no doubt that the Campy equivalent is just as good.

Thanks for all the input. I think I'll give it a try, since its only $35 with the shipping. I spend most of my time on the middle ring anyway.

I used a TA chainring on my Chorus crankset, it was very good. It lasted maybe longer than the original Campagnolo one.

Yes, they work fine, but why not go with a 39? a touch lower gear can't hurt especially as you get older!

I didn't see the TA in a 39. The 41 was what was being sold and I don't think I will perceive a 1 tooth difference. My bike is geared pretty wide anyway. I've always got that small ring if I have to wimp out on a climb!

AFAIK Campag 'race' triples come with a 40 and a 42t middle.. I have one of each.
52/42[26] & 50/40[24], I swapped out the 3rd ring in both cases.. from the 30t
