For a moment, I thought that Rube was in the German Alps.
bald eagle and bald iguana!
Did it taste like chicken?

That's what the eagle said.

Yeah, I was gonna say, keep a close eye on the kiddo with those big birds flying around.

I learned that kids hold onto Daddy with a force that equally proportional to the inverse of the distance from a bad-ass bird of prey.
That eagle looks pissed but from the looks of the shackle on his leg he'll eat no Rube nuggets today.
Thanks for the photos Rube.
...That eagle looks pissed...

Oh yes they look mean. Some are injured wild eagles that are kept here while their injuries are treated, then released back into the wild... those are really pissed. They look at you, look at the shackle, look back at you...
Most people get eagles for granted just because it is the national bird. But a few decades ago, we almost lost them. Thanks to programs like this, we now have thousands of them.

That video was last year. As of now it seems that we (Florida) are 2nd place in eagle population, with Alaska still strong on 1st place.

Well Rube, you look so unlike a Puertoricano. More Cuban I would say. Parent(s) from Cuba?

Stolen American eagles there eh?

Ricky Ricardo used to party in Puerto Rico 20-30 years ago so who knows?

Nope... traced over 4 generations of 100% PR Made Material :)
Most likely he is decendent of the Spanish commerce brokers who used that funny skull+crossbones ship flag who used to hang around those islands.

guilty... but I'm Americanized now and drink wisky.
Birds of prey know they're cool. (Borrowed from the Far Side)
We have a few nesting pairs near me on the south shore of Lake Erie. They're usually out in the morning and late afternoon eating fish along the shore and tend to nest farther inland.
Sure wish the Rube would post a picture of himself holding one while feeding it some chicken.

Most of us are a mixture of Taino, Spanish (Spain) and Africans. No Puerto Rican is 100% pure Puerto Rican as the Spanish killed off most of the aboriginal (Taino) inhabitants on the island, the diseases they bought along with them finished of the rest.

There are about six or seven breeding pairs within ten miles of here at least that I know of, B.C. doesn't need any of those American birds. It is not unusual to see the birds flying overhead anywhere in the city.

So the Rubester stands corrected on the "100% PR" statement? You forgot the Portugal residents which inhabited the island for many years.
*As soon as Rube completes his new civilization in Wintergarden there will be a completely new ethnic race in the world.
The language will be a pidgeon Spanish/deep south drawl English combination requiring skilled translaters.

Damn! Portuguese too! We're just a big bunch of mutts! LOL!
PR has everything. It was a sea port where people going *to* America would meet with those *coming back*. "You are going to work on the railroad?" said one man with Chinese accent. "I'm returning from that, it sucks, better stay here and farm sugar cane".

One good thing about eagles. They help control the population of feral cats.

They seriously keep an eagle chained to the ground? That is all sorts of messed up.

During recovery, it's either that or a cage. Most eagles I've seen there are recovering from eye infections/diseases. If they can't see well, they can't hunt. If you release them before curing them, they will die.

I would guess those Rubenjewels will be long gone if the eagle were to get off that chain. He has the scent of french fries all over him. With the eagles poor vision God knows what could happen. That beak is as sharp as a zev.
A picture of this unfortunate situation would be really "messed up".

Yes but there will be even more"missing cat" posters nailed on street poles around town.
They just don't get it,they're in the food chain.
