Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Can this section just be changed to "What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries?"

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

And drop the "Classic and Vintage"? AFAIK, no other appraisal section exists and no one seems to follow or care about the C&V part.
Thoughts? Would this turn into a mess if it was changed?
I hope not. I would like to see the modern stuff go to either the MTB or road bike forum.

AFAIK the Classic and Vintage Appraisal section is very useful, mostly to the uninformed, but also to an old timer like me. Adding everything else would just pollute a useful tool.
That said, why would you want to remove the Classic and Vintage designation? Perhaps I am missing something.

I've wondered why the only "What's it worth?" subforum is restricted to C&V bikes. Maybe the reasoning is that estimating the value of bikes manufactured more recently is usually a simple matter of saying, e.g., a five-year-old bike-store-quality bike in good condition is worth about 50% of the original selling price, while valuation of older bikes involves many more variables.
Still, it must be puzzling for newcomers to the forum who are looking for advice about prices of newer bikes but can't find any obvious pricing forum other than this one, tucked away under C&V.

Because it basically split off from C&V and the membership involved is most knowledgeable about C&V. Clasic and Vintage appraisal is definitely a different animal than appraising a 2007 Specialized Allez.

Using that argument, might it not be a good idea to have a for sale section in each of the forums (road bike, BMX, etc). That might prove to be target specific and useful to a lot more people.
Just a thought and perhaps it is already there. I never visit other forum categories. Too busy with the ones I do frequent.

There are targeted markets. The C&V Appraisal Forum simply developed organically, based on need. It started out as part of C&V, then part of the C&V Market, and then as a stand alone forum, all based on need and development.

A 2007 Specialized Allez has value? I could not resist the quip. Used Carbon just scares me a bit. Classic and vintage is wide enough.

As a new person to C&V I'd hate to think of the horrible and senselss resonses I'd have to endure in road cycling when trying to find out about the value or info on an old bike. the people associated with this section know what they are talking about and are pretty helpful when someone asks a question plus one doesn't have to filter through the crap to get what they want.
