A bit of a let down. So many mistakes. The next one will be better.

Yeah, I can see why you'd be disappointed.
Kidding! Nice work. Keep it up and you're sure to get your process refined.
That knife is plunged very deep into that fence railing.
I'm concerned about your new hobby combined with anger issues.

Looks really nice for a first knife. Good job. :)

It's OK. Like anything else it takes practice. Everyone had to start somewhere. You just didn't see their first knives.

Ooh, my favorite blade-shape!

So first knives are like first bikes. They tell you what you really want. ;)
Great looking blade nonetheless. I like it.

Proportions are a little off but you did a nice job. I made them in my 8th grade metal shop. Ahh the good old days.

I agree with others, it's a good starting point and seems to have been a good learning experience for you.

I'll offer $11 plus shipping. Suck it.
yes, your next one(s) will be better - keep this one and years from now you will be able to trace your journey from the beginning.
But i agree it's finished very nicely. What kind of wood is that? Very pretty grain and color!

I have to ask, how many times did you cut yourself?
02-22-12, 07:41 AM

02-22-12, 08:51 AM
Yes it is cocobolo
02-22-12, 08:56 AM
Ooh, access to couch's pictures will be tough to beat.
OK. $25, shipping, and the location of jsharr's basshole.
$25, shipping, the couch picture thing and I will personally take you to both my bassholes next time you are in Texas.

Don't tell jsarr that if the knifemaker dies, the value goes way up.
Used to make knives with a deer antler handle.
Bored a hole 3/8" in the end and set the blade with polyester resin(no pins). They hold up quite well.
