Hi all,
I'm trying to purchase my first road bike and I saw this posting on CL (http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik/2870614795.html).
It's a 90's LeMond Road Bike. Is it worth the posted $450? What should I offer instead? Also, there isn't much information available on the posting, so is there anything I should ask or look for when I go check out the bike? I'm looking for a dependable ride to get to work every morning - it's about 20 miles away.
Thanks!

Yes, if it as advertised and fits you well. Offer $375-$400 cash based on condition, fit, and how bad you want it.
Looks like a cool ride - let us know if you pick it up.

If it is really full Dura Ace and it fits you, then yes I'd go for it at $450. Definitely a cool looking bike.
SF market is very hot. If you want this bike e-mail them NOW and tell them you'll pick it up as soon as possible. Otherwise someone else will. At that price I'd expect it to go fast.
+1 All DA? and red hot San Fran market = should be gone.
Suggest you spend a little time on the web educating yourself on what the various DA components look like, while someone is driving you to pick it up.

Someone else got it before me by a mere couple of hours. I was pretty bummed but now continuing the search. Thanks the input everyone. I'm looking at this Dawes Lightning 1000: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/bik/2876481236.html. She's asking for 350, which I think is too high. She claims that it's European-made - I'm not sure what that even really means in terms of quality.
I offered 200. Is that a good price? Should I up it at all?
Here are the pictures she sent:

$200 would be a reasonable price on that bike but it's just... eh. If you have a budget of $450 I'd aim higher.
Unless you need a bike right now, I would keep looking for something that has character, with style, is cool. Like you! Not a mail order generic cheap bike.

Got a bike from the local bike shop! A red Scott Speedster, not actually sure what year/model it is, but I am pretty happy about it. Paid $200 for it!
