This bike was given to me from the wife, of the drummer, from the Barenaked Ladies. (my neighbours). She gave it to me cuz they had kids and didnt have tome to ride. Ive had this bike for a few years and i have never seen another one in toronto or anywhere for a matter of fact. The bike is from the 90's i think since theres still a threaded headset on it.

Parts:
Mavic xp21 rims to Shimano rsx hubs
rsx group set
sr stem and bar
look pedals
conti tires

Looking for info on the make Caloi and a rough estamate of the bike.

Here's one like it that I picked up three days ago. Main difference is mine is all 8 speed 105. Check bikepedia, its listed.

Rough estimate depends on how well yours shifts. It should sell for about what comparable RSX STI bikes from the 1990s sell for in Toronto. Some consider RSX to be a precursor to SORA. I would consider it slightly better.

105 like mine below is two steps higher up the Shimano food chain (RSX then RX100 then 105). Is yours 7 or 8 speed? My 105 is 8 speed.

I just finished refreshing it tonight. This is a before pic.

Should be early to mid 1990s. In the mid 1990s, Caloi sponsored the Lotto and Motorola pro teams, so there was some visibilty during this period. I don't jnow whether the labour in Brazil was cheap enough for in-house manufacture but the frame itself is very reminescent of the early 2000s box-store frames from China. The trouble with this frame is the lack of recognizability of the brand name, though based on the configuration, it should bring about $400. Serial number?

I can't say too much about how much the bike worth but the Caloi brand is the major brazilian bicycle manufacturer and have made bicycles in USA in the 90s.
this one is the Caloi Aluminium for road made in USA from 96 up to 98. used to come with Campagnolo group too.
