Are you looking at the frame or a complete?

I was looking at the complete but it's the shape of the frame (how the main bar slants backward/downwards slightly that I like.

Link to the complete? That would help.

Dude, if you're going to ignore all the advice in this thread about fixed with no discernible seat, just go ahead and buy whatever complete you want, then paypal me like $100 and I'll build you a flip flop wheel in whatever size you buy your complete in. I'll even alter the hub spacing. Freewheel and cogs are up to you.

Might as well make your own mistakes, and with a freewheel on the hub as well, as soon as you get sick of standing all the time, you can just flip it over and get back to zero. All for one Benji!

I'm serious about this.

Oh u can't buy them complete but I was looking at pics of completes :/

And to fella above. The FGFS bikes seem fine seat wise they're not too low. That's why I'm focusing on the FGFS style bikes right now. Thanks though.

Might as well buy one. And for that true freestyle/big BMX bike experience, you should get a cassette wheel and some tiny gearing. Just keep it compact and light.

Like I said all the good fgfs bikes are sold frame and fork only. There's not many completes, and do you know if you want 700c or 26" wheels? The vandal is 26" so you need to figure out what you want.

I don't know if you like these colors I don't but this is a good starter bike for fgfs it's 700c. http://sgvbicycles.com/Track_Bikes/volume_goldflake_thrasher.html

I think I'll have to do some research as I have no idea were to start when building my own bike!
Er, don't. I think you should buy a complete bike, especially if you're on a budget, in addition to the fact that you seem to be very new to bikes.

Carry on. :p

http://rydbikes.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=231 The havoc v2 complete is $750 not a bad deal good parts too. If you put up the extra money for the new conflict I think it's $1000 but it fits either 700c or 26" wheels which can come in handy, but it comes stock with 26" wheels the havoc comes with 700c and only fits 700c.

That sounds . . . excessively expensive.

That sounds . . . excessively expensive. Pretty good price compared to stuff that's going to fall apart fast. He could go with a cheaper option like the new state fgfs bikes don't know much about them though. http://www.statebicycle.com/category_s/3.htm Just scroll down to the bottom buddy I think there called the suspect and the culprit.

Thats quite nice, but yeah the colours are a bit in your face. Would it be stupid to spraypaint the frame?

Ha ok I will do. It seemed a bit daunting to me anyway!

Yeah the CONFLICT is a bit pricey for me, although it really does look great. At the top of my list thus far was the Specialized P Fix trick bike, as it can go single speed too and it's $880.

Looking at them State bicycles or that Vandal (Would spray it?) they look more in my price range and I've heard it's easy to turn them into Single speed if I wanted? I mean $580 plus a single speed cog thing makes alot of difference opposed to $880!

Any further advice?

REALLY appreciate all the great feedback thus far btw, it's not going unnoticed! :)

Avoid most of the State bikes. Make sure to get as much Chromoly as possible and such.

I'll just steer clear completely then. Would you sugges the volume vandal over the states? And would I be OK spray painting the vandal frame?

I wouldn't spray paint the frame it would look worse spray painted than it would just being gold I know from expierence.

Ok thanks!

I dont mean to derail the thread too much, but do you think these sort of bikes (single speed) would be too unfomfortable to cruise on? Even with the seat risen?

Hi,

I've been ridding a Haro Steel Reserve 1.1 for a year now. I've added a front disc brake and changed to slightly taller aluminum handle bar. So far, I have been very happy with it, had to add a chain adjuster. I'm retired and 200 lbs plus. I recently changed to a 14 tooth rear cog, this makes trackstands easier on my knees. I spend about 40 minutes aday on the 1.1,, Every stopsign gets a trackstand. The riding position isn't bad, you just need to train your body to it. BTW, I pitched the set and seat post, I replaced them with a post and seat from a Haro Heartland. Now get out there and ride, your skin will grow back!
