This was taken with a 25 year old camera with manual focus (and stuck aperture blades).


Canon 135 FD lens? It has plagued mine all the years I've owned it. Worse was getting a roll of film back and find the "best pictures ever" grossly overexposed, later learning that the aperture was stuck open. Researching on internet, apparently fairly common with the FD lens, requiring a full disassembly, but usually isn't'oil on the blades' but a part to the return spring that is no longer made.

^Naw, it was some cheap, Japanese-made (chinon or vivitar, maybe), Focal branded (Kmart) lens on my K1000.

The blades weren't oily and the spring is OK. It just got stuck wide open when mounted on the camera. And I can relate to the frustration. The point the film came back was the moment I decided to buy an DSLR.

Thanks very much everyone and congrats to tizeye and all the other great submissions! I've lost count of how many attempts I've made here but I was fortunate to get that shot just a few weeks before the theme came up.

Thank you, and congratulations nondes. There were so many terrific photos this month. I was going to recycle one I submitted a few months back of an osprey landing in it's nest...then was fortunate to get the one I submitted. Looked at the date, and was taken same day as submitted.
