This is listed on the S.F. Craigslist. I think it's really cool, but I can't afford it and it's 3 hours away. The seller's asking $275, maybe a little high considering the size. I'm curious, what do you guys think it's worth.

I'd say $275 is about right. The seller is presumably worrried about the large size so has priced it low. If it were a 54 or 56, it would sell in an instant at that price. Some really tall guy is going to get a great deal here.

+1, that' actually a bit low for a frame of that caliber in S.F.

If it fits you, get it. Ask the seller if he can meet you at least an hour closer to you.

The price seems about right for your market. But it probably isn't a good deal for you unless you already have all or most of the components to build it up into a bike. Building a bike of this caliber up from just a frame with appropriate level components can get very pricey real quick. If your starting from scratch it wouldn't be unrealistic to spend for $400-500 building a bike like this up.

I'd pay threefitty for't. Technology is advancing too fast for us to keep up. As Karl Marlentes says, people are not willing to sacrifice their lives for structures such as the Cathedral Notre Dame anymore; same for everyday objects. Except of course for the domestic cottage industries which service only the $900,000 an hour demographic.

You know that the color is due to corrosion that has been
overcoated with some kind of sealer or clearcoat, right ?

I'd be worried a little about what's going on in the interior
and such, but otherwise, such a frame made today would
cost you a whole lot more.

I've done better on occasion in the past on Jacksons in the
bay area, but not in this size, which is too big for me.

Cleaner, and IMO probably a better deal overall.

I thought that was low as well actually, especially for that market.
