My first visit to the Baseline Trail was on 3-1-12. This trail was fantastic. I've been wanting to get here for over 6 months. A long drive for me from Sarasota but would do it again. Don't miss visiting the Baseline Trail. Also no parking fee here. More photos on my website. Take care.

this was my first "trail" when I started riding. Haven't been there in forever. It's pretty short unless you do several laps but does have a few small hills. Nice pics!

Linda..... How is the knee? Or should I say knees?
well, the good news is, the knees are great! The bad news is, I need hip replacment surgery.
Back in Nov hubby and I were out riding @ the Halpata Preserve just west of us.

Lots of sand...and I mean LOTS! Almost a 2 hour ride and I'd say over half was through some nasty sand. For the next few weeks I was really hurting. Thought I'd pulled a muscle and tried to baby it. At Christmas we camped up at Anastasia State Park on St Augustine Beach and we rode the beach and rode into downtown. I was ok but really struggling getting on and off the bike. After a few weeks the pain was worse so decided I'd better find out if I'd hurt the knee. (Pain was from the knee up to the hip). Went back to my knee doc and after xrays he gave me the bad news. Need hip replacement surgery. He knows I work at a tax & accounting office and there was no way I'd have surgery until after April. So, he suggested an injection to give me some temporary relief. Well, did the injection...and the relief only lasted a few days. I've tried the recumbent @ the gym and the spinner but the pain is worse than the knee pain was. At least with the knee, I could ride miles and it really didn't hurt. Not so with the hip. So, I'm trying to get by with major doses of ibuprofen until mid May when the surgery is scheduled. I am really having withdrawls from my bike, but I've been reading the board and "riding" through everyone else's posts. Really enjoying all the pictures too.
I did talk hubby into loading up the bikes a few weeks ago and going down to the Withlachochee. Road from Central Park to Hernando and back (about 10 miles) but, I paid for it afterwards. Had to go back to using the cane. So, I've decided to be good and not risk taking any spills.
Thanks for asking...been meaning to post but just didn't want to "whine".

Anytime you fall off a bike Linda it could be bad. Falls happen so fast too. I hope you can get situated and back to normal very soon. I only ride paved trails. Just a lot safer. Check my website from time to time I am always adding many photos from my humble little travels. I wish you the best.
