I got this bike last night and was trying to date it and ran into a few things that threw me off. The serial number (which is located on the headtube, below the headbadge) is CJ87171 which made me think that it was from March of '73. The only problem is that the headbadge wouldn't match that I don't believe. Let me know what you think. took it all the way apart last night and everything, even down the the ball bearings in the 1 piece crank had Schwinn stamped on them. 239681239682239683.

CJ=March, 1973. It's a Super Sport frame (fillet brazed with BB shell for one-piece Ashtabula crank). My 1973 Super Sport has that same head badge.
What makes you think it's the wrong head badge?

I think I was just mistaken. I think some of their lower end bikes that year had the longer headbadge, and so I wasn't sure.
