Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - just picked myself up a 3/13" chain...

so..the title should say 3/16" instead of 3/13"....stupid typos.
so...i ordered the 415H, without knowing that it's the bigass 3/16" chain (no pics in the catalog). anyway, i think i'm gonna rock it on my track bike. if i decide not to, i'll probably put it on my bmx, so it's not like i've wasted any money...i feel like, as long as the thicker chain doesn't have any ill effects on my pedaling, it'll be all good. and that chain, though it is pretty overkilly, will last forever.

this may be a dumb question, but won't a 3/16" wear just as fast as any other chain?

you might not have a chain break that can handle that chain..

if anyone's gonna have a breaker to fit 3/16, i'd trust it'd be sloth...

i actually don't own a ton of tools (which is something that i need to rectify). i have what i need to get by, and then a few things that i only use every so often, like cone wrenches, a crank puller, some headset wrenches, and a pedal wrench...but i work in a shop that has breakers for 1/8", 3/16", 3/32" in a few different styles and brands...so i have access to the breaker...and if i wanted to, i could buy one, but up until now, i haven't had any use for it. i do have a breaker that'll fit a 1/8" and 3/32", and one that is supposedly made especially to break IG and HG shimano chains, but i haven't had any difficulty with the standard breaker that i have.
i'm actually not going to pick up that chain after all. kinda sucks for the shop, but it's definitely overkill for a track bike (and no, it won't wear as fast as a normal chain, because the pins, side plates, link plates, and rollers are all oversized, it'll pretty much kill the soft aluminum BMX chainring that i have on there though), and i don't want to buy a new sprocket and freewheel for my BMX, as that's like, $70 on a bike that's just fine now with a 1/8" chain and a bashguard, that i don't ride nearly as much as i should.
gonna pick up one of those wipperman chains when i find a new chainring and cog.

i'm gonna get the 1G8 in red.
the one i've seen in QBP was like, the 135 or something...same look as the G8, so maybe they've changed the name...
