I just signed up for my first "endurance" MTB event. It's a 6hr race that I'm doing solo. Anyone ever done one? If so, what kind of pace and feeding routine did you adopt during the race? It's gonna be a 9am-3pm race, so no night riding. I plan on eating copious amounts of Clif bars and using a HammerGel Pereptuem endurance fuel all during the race. I haven't sat down to figure out what calorie output and intake I'll be looking at, I just know I dont want to bonk. I ride ~100-150miles/week on the road and maybe 10-15 miles on the MTB. I feel confident in my conditioning and I'm really looking forward to this type of racing.
The trail is easy enough such that cardio is going to be the biggest factor by far.

BTW, it's Dec 31 so I got about 10days to figure this out.

Thanks

If you've got time, go out on a long road ride. Bring plenty of food. Eat what you think you need and see what the result is. Adjust for the race.

Not having ever raced, I can't comment more than that but I have done a few long (6+ hour) road rides and I learn something new about what I need each time. One of those things is to make sure you are properly fueled before the ride starts. I've found Post shreaded wheat cereal to be fantastic before a hard ride. It's ALL complex carbs.
