I'm looking to buy a specialized hardrock off craigslist and i'm not sure if its a good price. It's a 2009 hardrock and hes asking 350 for it. Below are some pics. Is this a good price.
That's a tough one. It's actually a 2008 Specialized Hardrock Comp Disc. Could have been released in 2007. Could be 5 years old. I guess you could take it to your LBS and have them check it out. I'd try to talk him down to $200.

Can't find that paint scheme in the 2009 listings but even the 2010 Hardrock Sport Disc had a MSRP of only $550

This might be an earlier model but regardless. Recommended maintenaince for this bike include a complete fork teardown and rebuild after 100 hours of use so unless the seller can produce papers indicating thats been done, and if the bike needs even a tune-up, I think $200 is generous.

They guy said he bought it last year for 600 bucks. And he only ever used 5 or 6 times. He's said the 350 is firm so i'm not sure if i can talk him down at all.

So don't waste your time. Lots of people flip bikes on Craigslist and very few are honest about what they paid or the actual year of the bike.

Geez, if the dude paid $600 for it used last year, he's not the sharpest pencil in the box. Either that or he's lieing  (Someone telling a lie on Craigslist! I'm Shocked, shocked I tell you). He mis-spoke on the year of the bike, exagerated what he paid for it, if you REALLY want it, call him on it. The bike sold for $510 new according to BikePedia and it's a 2008, not 2009. Offer him a top dollar of $250 and hold firm. In fact, if you go that route, and he passes, tell him the offer is only good for 48 hours. Don't be upset if you don't get this one.

It's a 2008 hardrock comp disc. 2008 was the only year they did that graphic design in silver.

Because then you don't end up with a BikesDirect bike. :innocent: Just sayin'.

He said he sold it anyway. Doesn't matter i get a new Hradrock disc 29er at my local bike shop for about 450 i might just get that. Unless you guys have some recommendations for sites or what to get.

Count it as GOOD luck. Used cars, real estate and second-hand bicycles are all risky transactions when dealing with someone that knows more about it than you do. Had a guy this week try to tell me a Specialized Hardrock he had for sale was worth between $550 and $700. I'm not only familiar with that bike, I'm familiar with the store where it was originally sold (sticker was on the bike). Original selling price was $350
