Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Fat guy enjoying the ride, nothing more and some pics

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have not ridden much at all this year, in fact I didn't ride a single pedal stroke until this evening (re injured my back and had some personal stuff come up that kept me off of the bikes) and something clicked in me and those short rides mean more to me than I remembered. In 2009 I started riding a bike again as a way to get out there and to keep my weight loss on a roll, a 2 mile ride back then was an accomplishment and leading into last year I was up to 20 plus mile rides and they became my main ride type. Today my wife was home from work early so I took the chance to take a ride around the lake that I live on with my daughter on the trail a bike (her first time riding it) She was very apprehensive about the ride but was game so off we went! we probably did 3 to 4 miles at a not very fast pace and I am not sure if its the long winter of a re-injured back, perhaps just the fact that it was the first time out this year or maybe it just was what it was, a nice ride with my daughter but I enjoyed this ride as much as any that I have taken in the past.

The new wheelset that I put together over the winter rolled awesome and smooth, I am putting my K2 into pavement duty so I got smoother tires (rigid fork is next) and the difference between them and the Kenda Klaw knobby deals I had on there is huge! I do need to adjust the brakes a bit as I really had to squeeze to get them to grip but that's ok, the ride was awesome.

The last shot is across the lake as the sun started setting, I think my motto for 2012 is going to be to enjoy the smaller stuff from on top of my bikes and I think shooting for a lot more of these short not so intense rides will be on the menu this year.

I really don't have a reason for this thread other than to say, enjoy the little stuff too when you're out on the bikes guys and gals because this short slow ride was just as awesome as any of my longer rides from the past.

oh! and my daughter said to me "we are going on a longer ride tomorrow right dad?" how can I say no to that?

That is all :)

Any thing you do with your child is a good thing especially father/daughter stuff. Not saying father/son or mother/son --mother/daughter are not important.

How old is your daughter?
Sounds like these rides are going to be something special for both of you.

Nothing wrong with enjoying the smaller rides with your daughter. I started pulling my daughter on a trail-a-bike last year. She is always ready to go and asking when the next time is going to be. Cherish these times before she thinks dad is not cool anymore.

6, She really is intrigued by me and my bikes (all 12 of em lol) She sees me working on them all the time and talking to my wife about them and really wants to be a part of it, which is awesome as far as I am concerned :) We have had this trail a bike since last year and she just now worked up the nerve to give it a go and it looks like it was a hit!

Indeed! Hopefully she gets into riding enough that I can always be at least partially cool to her :) ..... who am I kidding! lol I figure I have her until about the early teens right? ;)

One of my daughters still likes to go riding with me at 21.

Push, While I've also had a ton of motor sports interests and that is where my son's interest lies (although he loves the Olmo I built for him), my daughters were always intrigued with the bicycles. Both are actually not riding at the moment as each has a pair of babies that eat up their rec time. Both are considering trailers for their mountain bikes... this is going to be fun!

When my daughter was in preschool I rode her to school in a trailer just about every day, She was sad when she was too big for it (she could probably still fit but she is very tall) it was fun rolling up to the school every day and having all of the other kids checking out the bike and trailer, I think that my daughter thought so too! pulling up with her princess helmet and sun glasses showing the trailer off :)

I'll tell ya that trailer was good for working out the legs on the hills! at least with the Adams she can help pedal :P

Here is a shot of the bike and trailer back when I first got it :) you can see lots has changed on the bike since then!
