Hi folks,
I see that the questions just keep pouring in on these bikes. I have a Peugeot Peformance bike for sale on e-bay that I purchased in the UK for about $1000 5 years ago. Its silver with red and blue decals, 16 spd (I had them put a different cassette on the back for all those hills in England) and has Shimano RSX gears.
The tubing is Columbus Chrome Alloy.
I am trying to determine the weight of the bike. I would estimate 20 - 24 Ibs, probably on the lighter side.
Any ideas???

Go get your bathroom scales. Stand on them and make a note of your weight. Now pick the bike up and stand on the scales again, and check the weight. Subtract the first result from the second -- that's the weight of the bike.

Thanks I tried that and it came out at 13 Lbs which I though was a bit too light!!! Probably the scales are no good!
Try it on a different scale. If you're getting the same result for more than one scale, the result is probably accurate.

KoffeeI'd wager it's a subtraction problem or inability to read the scale, either due to too much beer. That bike would have a hard time seeing 20 pounds on it's best day.
Mathematically, it's referred to as an ill-conditioned subtraction, i.e., the subtrahend and minuend are too close together, so measurement precision greatly affects the reported difference. I prefer to hang a bike from a good fishing scale.

Darn that English Beer, its just to heavy. I guess I will have to switch to the American Lite beer if I am to get an accurate weight. Thanks for the joke appreciated it. I am afraid that the science bit went over my head but I am guessing that what all that means is that the weight gets distributed when one holds the bike as opposed to the bike being weighed on its own???
As for the slurr on the bike weight, I really don't think it exceeds about 24 Lbs
