Are you looking for alternative clothing choices for winter riding? Have you considered the traditional Santa Claus suit or elf outfit.

Here are two pictures of two riders in London, Ontario, Canada commuting in to work this fine day.

Tonight's return ride will include the winter clothing plus battery powered Christmas trees and battery powered Christmas lights.

Seldom have so few received so many supportive honks! :)

Ho! Ho! Ho!

That's great!

The whole intent of this ride was to share the fun and excitement of Christmas with others.

If seeing the pictures brought a smile to your face then it worked!

Good on ya Jamie!

You probably did more for cycling's public image in London than their TDM coordinator's done in the last couple of years! ;) (Just kidding.. I'm sure London has a great TDM coordinator)

Only the safest cyclng out-fit on the planet. Even the *REAL* grinches wouldn't dare hit Santa...just days before Christmas! HO HO HO!

You are so right about that! Traffic was very respectful and supportive. The closest I've been to that in the past was when riding on parts of the Cross Canada route during the peak time for Cross Country riders to be at that point. Today took that support to an entirely new level!

I actually wrote up a page about the experience. I tried to convey some of the fun Jakub and I experienced today. Hopefully it comes through.

The page includes a couple of pictures showing the lights and christmas tree (Jakub lost his tree sometime during the morning ride unfortunately).

It's called "Reindeers take a vacation and Santa goes Icebiking!" and there's a link to the page right off the home page at http://www.bicycletouring101.com in the Editorials and Interviews section.

Normally I would just write my comments directly here so please forgive me this indulgence. There is a lot of text that I would need to copy over.

Good one Jnoble. I think www.icebike.com would post your story immediately also. They tend to hang on to good stories like this!

Thanks for your comments. It's too bad you weren't along on the ride. Santa has sore muscles today from plowing through the fallen snow but the memories of the ride will far eclipse the mild muscle soreness.

We had a Santa Rampage ride here in Wisconsin last weekend, and I have worn my Santa hat ever since. It really does make commuting nicer..........friendly honks from motorists and it keeps my head warm by blocking the helmet vents. No snow here yet, just very cold.
