Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Vintage Celeste Bianchi...what is it and is it worth selling?

Hi All - I need some help identifying my Dad's old Bianchi I am trying to sell. I started riding this when he got a new one and after I got something that fit me this ended up sitting in the shed. I want to sell it so I can send the money my Dad's way so any advice is greatly appreciate. I honestly have no clue of the model or what it would be worth, if anything. It definitely needs some love and care and would be a project bike for someone but I don't know what it would take to make it road worthy.

It's a mid-late 80's I believe. The serial number on the bottom appears to be 10065 and there is a 6 B and what looks like 'hi' stamped on the bottom of the frame but there are no stickers etc. The components all look to be the original Campagnolo but I am not 100%. There is some surface rust. The seat post came out fine. If I have measured correctly it's a 58. There is a sticker indicating it is the Formula One tubing and Made in Italy.

Can't identify the model, but it would certainly bring $200 to $250 if you posted it as-is on Craigslist. Celeste paint, popular size, and Campy bits are all pluses. Clean it up and post good photos to get top dollar.

Thank you for the excellent pics.

The Crank looks to be Ofmega/Bianchi and the brakes Modolo, but the rear mech is Super Record. The first two slightly deflate value, the last brings it up. It appears to be a large size (60cm?), which deflates value somewhat. It also need a fair amount of cleaning, etc. to be more presentable. Otherwise value is somewhat deflated. On the plus side, it is the desirable Celeste colour, which ads a bit to the value.

As it sits, I would say 250-300$. 200$ and you would be beating buyers back with a stick, preferably a large one. Cleaned up, 4-500$, although on CL in most areas you would be waiting at that price.

Bianchi Girl will be along shortly and I would take her word over mine.

It depends on your area but I don't think that you will get much more than $250 in that condition, maybe a bit more all cleaned up. The rust on the frame is a problem but it doesn't look to deep yet.


Were it mine, I would clean it and tune it up and keep it, you will never get a free Bianchi again plus it is your dad's old ride. I would love to have something like this in 20 years time to tell the kids about---"Your granddad rode this bike and then I rode it and now it is yours".

Hello Binkleyboo welcome to the forums. I will be able to tell you more certainly on Monday what the model is but the year is '85 or 86 and I suspect it is a Nouvo "something" with and upgraded rear derailler. the Ofmega cranks and Modolo put it around that level. what are the hubs?

As to the value... I'll let some of the guys who resell bikes speak to that but this bike needs alot of cleaning and repair to get anything close to top dollar. it certainly needs a tuneup but a complete overhaul would do it better. the paint is very rough, the alloy bits show alot of corrosion and the there is a good deal of rust on the metal parts. this bike needs alot of elbow grease to make it a nice good looking rider.

I think the FD, shifters, and pedals may also be upgraded. How are they marked?

I will tell you that at 200$ I would buy that bike as it sits, no questions except for a thorough look over, but that's the dividing line for me. I think the parts have a bit of value, and the frame is my size (I think), so factor that in there. From photos, I don't see the rust as that bad.

Some of the value also is in your locale; some it's maybe worth a bit more, some less.

I also agree with Jet, if it fits, fix it up and keep it.

Jet - I would love to keep it but I'm a 5'7" female so sadly it's not something I can really ride.

Poguemahone - I'm in the Bay Area in CA so we have a lot of avid cyclists.

The hub is the center part of the wheel where it attaches to the frame or fork.

I ended up selling the Bianchi for $200 and I think it found a good home. If I can get pics from the guy after it's cleaned up I will post again! I appreciate all the help and info. Thanks again!

I recently sold an '86 Veloce, similar to yours, for ~$600. It was super clean, though.
