This is to kind of go along with the bike names thread. Do you consider your bike to be male or female?

Mine is female and I named her Joker. See the bike names thread if you want to know why.

Depends on the bike...

My Marinoni road bike, 'Noni, is female.

My Kona cyclocross bike, Jake, is male.

My Specialized MTB, Mango, is vegetable.

My utility bike, The Mule, is male.

Depends on the bike ---

1982 metallic brown Bianchi -- definitely masculine (Italian stallion)

1988 red-white-blue Schwinn mountain bike -- likewise

1959 Capo; delicate, intricate -- probably female under the ugly Rustoleum paint job

1980 Peugeot: probably likewise (plain Jane?)

me being a male... i personly dont like the idea of riding on another male... so if i had to give my bike a gender... it'd be female.

In this age of political correctness, Lloyd's registry has stopped referring to ships in the feminine. My bikes are all gender-neutral. That includes Michelle Pfieffer the Carbon-fiber Wonder Bike. :D

My bike is an extension of me. Therefore, it is male.

Mine are all gender neutral. I call them by the manufacturers name. The Aegis is "The Aegis". It is a pure sexy machine though.

I offer nevertheless anatomic classification: the male's frame bike is a male, and female - so it's a female.
But you're amusing guys! Have you thought to plant bicycles, crossing them? :p

To put a different "spin" on the discussion:

If you're French you can choose between "le vélo" (male) or "la bicyclette" (female). The former is obviously more commonly used.

If you're German, well, its "das Fahrrad" (neuter). If you want to get diminutive about it, you can call it "mein Rädchen" or "mein Fahrrädchen," but you still end up with it being neuter.

Other languages?

I thought mine would be female; however, as I though about it, I can't be sure.

If it is male, I'm sure I wouldn't be riding it (going along with what AutoAudio said).

But, on the flip side, it doesn't have mood swings, doesn't complain, and although I spend money on it from time to time, it doesn't spend any of my money on its own. Therefore, could it still be female?
