Mountain Biking - I got the 6700!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I got the 6700! That bike is so good I think that the rim is a little bent though. It came with the Hayes Nines those brakes are really nice. One problem with the bike is that th e seat can be really uncomfortable in certain areas if you know what I mean) I want like a comfortable seat. Will a seat that is like just for your butt work or should I not use that for xc biking? I really like this bike especially the 27 gears. I can't wait to ride it again. Please respond with the seat issue, and my cleats are reallyhard to clip out and I often fall. How can I loosen the tension of the springs? I don't wanna mes sup the bike.

Congrats on the bike. A bent rim on a new bike is inexcusable though. You should take it by the place you bought it and have them true it. As far as seats go, I have the WTB Speed V, which is basic, but I like it. It could be a cheap fix if you don't like what the bike came with. Post some pics for us.

there should be an allen key bolt on the pedal, often between the two sides of the springs, adjust and try, adjust and try

I really like the WTB Rocket V Race that came stock on my '05 Kula; one of the most comfortable saddles I've owned.
What kind of pedals do you have (SPD's I suspect)? I'd consider a migration to Crank Bro's eggs or Time ATAC's but that's just my preference (I don't see myself ever going back to SPD's).
Congrat's on the new bike! :D

This page should help you with pedal adjustment.

Something like this? My advice is to buy a Brooks Saddle. Type that in the search bar on this forum and be born again.

use it, love it. i don't know if it will help you now, but it will in the future. It's far cheaper to do repairs/overhauls when you're not paying a shop. Leaves more money for parts.
