I hate the ones that are in between LBS and WalMart bikes, like the ones they sell at Dick's sports. They aren't OVERTLY POS's like X-mart bikes but at $250 they still have sucky components and frame. I don't hate all racing bikes, just the ones piloted by fat 50 year olds!

Hold on now, I'm not saying Giant and Trek aren't putting out quality comfort bikes in that price range, but you can't get a decent mtb or road bike in that price range unless you're buying used. I should've followed my first instinct and not even posted, as this thread seems like hurt feelings waiting to happen!

I hate mongoose and huffy both because my first bike that I ever had was a huffy it sucked @$$ because one day I picked it up by the handle bars and every piece of the bike fell off and the bike I have now is a mongoose outer limit wall mart bike and it has lasted four to five years now but its starting to break and stuff I just simply hate them both but if I had to pick from those two I would definitly pick a mongoose

no bike will ever fall completely apart at once and if it does, then you do not deserve to own a bike because you cannot maintain it properly

ok the tires the fork and the handle bars all fell off and also I was 8 years old at the time I did not know I needed to maintain a bike nor did I know how! it was the same year my mom and my dad split up and we lived in seperate citys! now I haven't seen my dad in 5 years and we live over 5000 miles away from each other... other than that i am going to get my venom pretty soon

a broken bike is the worst bike

Especially if it broke while you were riding it.

You know, I really don't hate any bike. What I hate is when a manufacturer puts out a $200ish bike and it has crappy geometry. Like, they still use U-Brakes on the chain stays, it has big gearing, big ugly handlebars, some crazy chopperred out forks, screw on axle pegs, some off-brand Gyro/Oryg, and a lousy stem.

It's stupid, because if they have to have the frame built for them anyways, it doesn't cost MORE to make the bike have good angles for riding freestyle. Handlebars with a good design (sweep/width/height) don't actually use more metal in them. Using smaller gearing actually cuts DOWN on the amount of material used in the bike. A stem uses a certain amount of aluminum and that's it! So, the consumer gets screwed over because they don't do research and the company thinks it's putting out a good product because it actually sells.

Besides Huffy and Mongoose - Diamondback has been notorious of putting out poorly engineered products for several years. They need more actual rider/engineers on their staff to help correct such stupid little issues and make better entry level products.

DK is one of those companies leading the pack... In bike shops, I think Haro is easily leading the pack (non-mail order). I am very skeptical of Giant/Specialized who come in from other parts of cycling and may look at bmx as a more 'kid' speciifc sport than as riders like any other.

does the haro backtrail x1 have u brakes on the chainstays. i'm asking cause i'm not sure what the chainstays are

also does it have bad geometry (its mostly built for dirt riding, although i haven't gone dirt riding yet)

Yes, it does - and it uses larger gearing and it has a so-so stem. But, angles and size seem alright.

I'm not sure how much the bike costs, but it has no front brakes and no pegs on it which will cost upwards of $40.00 after market to get for the bike which really have to be counted if those are things you may want later.

It is, in my opinion, one of the weakest lines Haro makes. The F-series and Nyquist bikes are some of the best values they make with good design.

I don't hate bikes, I just don't care for the people that spend oodles of bucks on a fancy-schmancy bike and don't ride it. It sits there with all the bells and whistles, all pathetic looking, gathering dust and cobwebs. Get out and ride, people!

it doesn't have front brakes or pegs because it was designed for dirt jumping

I take it you don't approve of a 50 year old trying to get into shape and participate in a sport that almost anyone can actively participate in. So what do you say to the fat 50 year old when you pass him? What do you say when he passes you?
