I've got my thrift store commuter bike with 27x1-1/4 slicks. It's 30 degrees, snowing, 30 mph wind gusts, and ice on the two long bridges between me and the house 8 miles away.

Let's ride!

Amazingly, I did not wipe out on the bridges - especially the two mile long one with the 30 mph crosswind. There was apparently just enough snow mixed in with the ice to give me traction though I don't know for sure. I thought about stopping half way across to put my foot down and see how slippery the pavement was but decided I really didn't want to know.

It was nice to pass all those cars inching their way across.

What fun. I wish I could do ice biking more often here.

Get out and ride, merton! Go ride across a bridge, passing cars, and yell, "get off the road" to those drivers sitting there in your way.

It's payback time!
