Electric Bikes - electric bike in India

Hello, I live in India. I am interested in buying an electric bike. I have researched a lot of models...the best I can find weighs 32 kilos and has lead acid batteries. Top speed is 24km /h and it can go up to 40 km per charge.... But I suppose I would get less in reality as roads are quite bumpy here sometimes....
I have read advice to buy an electric bike that is under 30 kilos in weight, but can't find that here. Do you think it would be still worth buying and using even though it is a bit heavy and doesn't have lithium batteries? Supposedly it can go 10000 kilometers without battery change....

I am in P.R. China; so, I expect that your selection is pretty much the same as mine. I have had an e-bike here in the past; however, at the present I do not. If you are thinking of getting it to cut down on cab trips, it will probably work pretty well.

What matters in the consideration is; first, what are you doing now, is it working well for you? What about the present situation do you want to change? Then, is that within the parameters of the device?

As I said, if you are unhappy about the hassle of getting a cab for frequent, medium distance, cab trips; then, the e-bike is a good choice. Several people I knew were just tired of the walk to work, it was just over one kilometer (possibly two Km); however, it was up a steep hill that made riding a pushbike uncomfortable for them. For them an e-bike was a good choice.

To answer your question, more information would be needed about the intended use.

Thanks for the reply Robert...currently my husband and I go everywhere by a regular motorbike. I am interested in electric bike as a more ecofriendly form of transport .Also I get back pain from motorbike transport but never did from riding a normal bicycle.
I'm thinking of electric rather than normal bicycle because sometimes in the heat riding 7 km or so and back with some hills seems like a lot. Normally I wouldn't think to go much further than that distance with it....and often it would be just riding into town - about 5km without too many hills...but roads are not in great condition here so distances feel further.

This one I can not be sure if the e-bike will help. It really depends on what is causing the pain.

7 Km should be will within the range of an e-bike. Even if you are not pedaling. I frequently go, with a friend, to the market that is 5 Km away. She rides an e-bike and has no trouble with that distance. The roads here are pretty much a mess too.

I would recomend being sure to recharge frequently, letting a lead acid battery (the type found in Asian domestic market e-bikes) become completely drained severely limits their lifespan. Do not worry about memory effect (if you have even heard of it), that is, for all intents and purposes, not applicable to this type of application.

I sold mine when I left the country to return to the states for a couple of years. When I came back I still had here my pushbike so I just used it instead. However, without having it I think I am using the taxis a lot more now.
