Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Why I Like Clydesdale/Athenas Forum . . .

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

You didn't wander into the 41 did you?

Or did you get good news from a doctor?

I was gonna say, wander over to the road forum for a while and you'll have a different appreciation for the C&A forum. ;)

Agreed. I love this side of the forum. When I first came here, I made the mistake of going over to the roady side and introduced myself. The first few people said "hey fatty, go over here". I like it here.

I've gotten under 200 lbs again (just barely - 198 this morning...), and hope to get to about 155 by mid to late summer. That'll take me well into the normal range of BMI, but I'd still be considered a fatty on the roadie forum at that weight and my height, I think.

Even under 200 lbs, I still plan to hang out here. The way I see it, I'm kind of a "clyde in recovery".

I like this forum as well as the 50+ ones because it's not mainstream thinking. How fast or how far you ride isn't the issue. Just the fact that we are riding is enough.

I like it because at 220 and disabled, I'm not going to be racing any time soon. I can happily put in 50 miles, I just do it at a very leisurely pace for some.... with coffee and apple pie breaks at cute cafes. All that "zomg I have a X gram front derailleur" stuff is for the birdies. Dude, my apple pie weighs more than your derailleur... and if I add some whipped cream it might beat your rear derailleur too.

Man we need a like button on this thing. As I told a guy who laughed at me on my bike i said I am the fattest fit man you will ever know! Thanks for this wonderful place to call home.

Hell yes! When you are a bigger rider, does it really matter about saving grams on the bike. Um... no! :)

Plus most of the skinny riders do not come out in the winter time. They are nice weather riders. We have insulation... free at charge thank you very much!

Around here you see way more skinny bikers out in the cold than well-padded ones.

I've made the mistake of venturing into the Road Cycling section. That's a rough crowd in there! Way more supportive atmosphere in here!

Thats interesting. This winter, I asked people in Dec and Jan (our colder spells for this year) if they were riding and I would get the "heck no. It is freezing out there". I got the same response the other day and it was 60 degrees. Thats shorts and short sleeve shirts for me kinda weather.

Sometimes it's HTFU here too, but said in the most loving, supportive way possible. ;)

This subforum is one of my favorite places on the net. Even though I'm 20lbs below clyde now you were all supportive of me when I first showed up. I've got a bit more I'd like to lose though. Otherwise, I stick around because the personalities I've encountered here are awesome...

I'll probably never go below 200, but the inspiration on this forum has helped me stay motivated during my weight loss journey. Thanks to all for your help!!!

Snif, snif ... my eyes are watering up.

Seriously ... great crowd here. To paraphrase the old military saying, "you can draft me anytime", (that's 'draft' as in staying a foot off my back wheel as I pull you down the road, not the enlistment type of draft).

I like this forum because everyone seems super nice. To be honest, I don't really spend too much of my time in other forums because I usually find everything I need here!
