just found out eddie participated in a tri relay? does this mean one guy for swim, another for bike, and yet one more for the run?

Well, kind of right.. It doesn't necessarily mean that you have ONE person swimming, SECOND person biking and a THIRD person running. There are some (maybe all, what do I know?!) relays where you are allowed two people to a team.

Here is what I want to do: Swim and bike, but leave the running to someone else. You mean there is a place I can do that?

In short, yes. You just need to find a relay/team triathlon and a runner. :)
