Hybrid Bicycles - 700c x 38 tire to 700c x 35?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I have a Schwinn Avenue Hybrid with 700c x 38 tires. My rear tire has been giving be problems so I will need to replace it. I would like a smaller tire, is it worth changing to a 700c x 35 tire? Will this change requrie a different rim?

NO.. a) 622 is the number on the sidewall that is bead seat diameter 2nd
b) is the width, like 622-35.
so another 622 tire will be fine, [just not a 630.. aka 27"]

You can easily go down to a 28c if you desire.
I'd take the current front tire and put it on the rear and use the new "skinnier" tire up front.

I don't understand your 622 and 630 tires. As stated my tires are 700c by 38.

700C tires/wheels are 622 MM Bead Seat Diameter (BSD)
27" tires are a 630 MM BSD.
To be "correct", your tires are 700x35c, not 700cx35.
The would be marked on the sidewall as 622-35.
It REALLY doesn't matter! We know what we mean.

Actually, to be "correct," the OP's tires are 700x35mm.
anyway, you can use any tire you please from 25mm to most likely ~42mm in width.
