The recent spate of warm weather up here has me commuting much earlier in the year than I normally would. Usually, by the time of year I start commuting, it's light out at 7am when I have to leave.

But it's not now.

And I'm a total sucker for sunrises.

The first one is very pretty. And it makes me want to put a sweater on.

I don't believe I have a single photo from my commute. It used to be more fun or joyful; it's still fun, but it's also become a bit more routine. That's a fancy way of saying I don't stop for photos along the way.

This is one of two (the other one is about 1/2 mile beyond this one) of what I have been told are the largest wooden structures in the U.S. Built in the 1920's to house the U.S. Navy's rigid airships, now slated for demolition if the preservationists loose the fight. A compromise may be reached to save one of them.

You can google earth it at 33d42'2.7"N, 117d49'22"W

So I got a Fargo.

Man, this thing will ruin your life.

Showing up late for work with a mud stripe up your backside. Getting home after dark, covered in cuts after bushwhacking your way out of a route that just didn't quite work.

Great fun. Wouldn't have it any other way. :D

One of those hangers IS going to be preserved, the other torn down. They were both used to store blimps that were used for patrolling the coastline for Japanese subs during WWII, and later as a repair bay for helicopters when the facility was the Tustin Marine Corps helicotper airbase. Right now the 'preserved' one is being used for a lot of movie and television shoots, especially commercials. I've seen it (its inside) in Honda, Acura, and Toyota commericals. It was also used in a few of the Mission Impossible films.
