Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Vintage Windsor Professional 1970s?

Just acquired this from an auction lot. I'm assuming it's a 1970's Windsor Professional. All the parts are Campagnolo. I also have tires for it. Any clarification would be appreciated. I plan on selling it and need to know what to call it!

Serial number on bottom looks to be 13 8622

I don't understand why no one replied. Nice looking bike but i am no sure of the model. What kind of components are on it?

I think since it is drilled for a Portcatena chain holder it would be very late '70s or early '80s.

also if you go to the vintage trek site there is a way to determine the year of the parts by the codes on them

If the rear derailleur is a Campagnolo Super or Nuovo Record there may be a model yeat stamped near where it bolts to the frame.

Short horizontal dropouts and side-pull brakes say early 80s to me. No idea what it is though.

Does it have wheels? Looks complete otherwise. If you're selling I would take some more pictures, particularly of the driveside. Are you selling with or without the components?

Not like any Windsor Pro I have seen. I thought all Pros had fastback seatstays ala Cinelli. Certainly every one I have seen does and so does mine. Pros usually had chrome, drilled lugs, also ala Cinelli. Better pictures would help.

It had Mavic GP4 rims. I thought I'd sell them separately??

I believe that it's a late 70s Pro (or maybe early 80s). The earlier models all had the Cinelli-type seat stays. FWIW, a really stunning orange version of this was recently on Ebay (do a search)? I believe that opening bid was $750, with nobody entering a bid. So, value for yours should be somewhere south of there. $500-600, depending on where you are selling? Personally, I love the old Windsor Pros (my dad had an early/mid 70s model when I was a kid).

Looks like I'll list it as what it says, add the other info I know is on it and let the buyer decide. If they're looking at it, they know what it is, I figure. It was imported by Alpha Cycle & Supply, according to the sticker.

If you're not stripping it down to the frame/fork I would definitely sell the bike whole with wheels and tires. The pictures you post make me question what has been done to the bike, why doesn't it have wheels, why is it sitting on the ground... etc. Then in the last few pictures the handlebars and stem have been removed???

If you make an ad put the bike all back together and take good pictures that way. Right now it looks like kind of a mess, even though it's probably in good shape.

Overeager Husband took handlebars off "since they have to come off for shipping, anyway". I told him to leave the damn thing alone until I finished here....

We acquired it from an auction lot and the tires were off already.

Now I'm telling Hubby that he needs to put the handlebars back on and we'll try to put the tires on (which of course are old and flat).

Ok, that looks better. Going to need a lot better/more pictures (take some from the driveside) if you plan to sell this on ebay. On craigslist you could get away with it but on ebay a buyer has to commit without being able to see and touch the item in person. These pictures are pretty small, and a buyer will have to do a fair bit of guessing on the condition of the frame, paint, components, etc. Host pictures to a site like photobucket or flickr for large high-res images. also I suggest you lower the picture angle to even with the center of the seat tube more dramatic that way

It doesn't look at all like a Windsor Profesional to me. What is it then? Who the hell knows. Maybe a later 80's Pro but I just don't think so. Try to find some images on the web, compare the serial number. Whatever it is, it does look like like a pretty nice bike, so just sell it as it is (except for that hideous blue barf handlebar wrap). The very uncertain origin and mish-mash of parts to me limits its value. I'd try to get $300 but wouldn't expect a whole lot more.

Sold it on eBay today for $475! It's at a local bike shop being professionally packed for it's trip. :)
